| Customer Reviews: Awesome CD!!! May 18, 2010 John Bereczki (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) I actually went to the concert in Vancouver in September of 2009 so when they brought this out I was very happy! Some of the live versions of songs such as Two divided by zero and why don't we live together are great!! I'm surprised how great it sounds, sometimes you can't even hear the crowd and doesn't seem like it was recorded from the concert. DVD is great as well, great shots - highly recommend it to PSB fans and anyone who attended the concert!!!
Nowhere anywhere near as good as their show in Montreal!!! March 14, 2010 Anthony Morelli (Montreal, Canada) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
OK...I may sound cynical or negative, but I must admit, the whole performance (CD & DVD) of the show itself, is nowhere near as good as they did in Montreal, when they performed at Metropolis in Montreal in August 29, 2009. The Montreal show was spectacular and I wish the night didn't end so soon. It was my 2nd time seeing Pet Shop Boys in concert, live in person. I must admit that this was an amazing eperience, far better than the recordings on the DVD and CD of this item.
I'm not crazy about the way PSB performed the show in London. It lacks a lot of feeling and Neil Tennant seems tired and washed out. Even the backup singers soudn dead compared to the show we saw live in Montreal. I cannot figure why they were better here, ever since it was a much-smaller venue than the 02 Arena in London.
And, 5 songs missing from the setlist (on the CD), compared to the DVD. Why they omitted those songs, I don't know. I love "Before", "Jealousy" and "Building A Wall".
These are 3 songs which should've been included, instead of the black-tie affair stuff ("Do I have to" and "King's Cross"). The CD should've been released as double CD, with a bonus DVD, instead of CD&DVD like it is currently.
If they'd gone for the whole concert on CD, it would've meant a whole lot more to me, since the show sounds nothing like the show we saw in Montreal. Neil sounds tired and worn-out throughout the recording on the CD. I haven't watched the DVD yet, but can imagine it's far more better than the CD itself, since the show show is there. I can't understand why "Before" wasn'it included in the setlist, cos it was performed here in Montreal. You would think they'd do pretty much the same show everywhere, right?
I like the jewel-case, although there was already one tooth missing from the first tray in this package, so the DVD doesn't rest tightly in the tray, and flips & flops around loosely however it wants. The CD is okay, though.
The CD is blue and the DVD is fluorscent green. There is a lot of extra material on the DVD, which is nice. For a first-time fan or listener of Pet Shop Boys, this is "THE LIVE CONCERT TO BUY" on CD&DVD. There is so much to remember and reminisce about. I just wish "Before" was included on the CD, as well as "All Around The World", as well as "Building A Wall". Why they didn't put those songs, I don't know.???
The package itself is nice. Nice jewel-case, although I would've preferred a jewel-case, like they did with the 2CD version of "Yes".
This item's packaging was more thrown-together, since it was made in Canada.
The sound is excellent, but I think they could've come up with a better design concept, rather than taking the standard jewel-case format.
It's still worth getting...........but if you happened to see PSB in person, on their North Amercian tour, you WILL agree they were 100 times better at that show, than the show on/in this recording, live from the 02 Arena, London. Get it, cos it's part of your PSB collection, even if it's nowhere near as good as the North-American performances on the "Pandemonium Tour".
